On August 26, 2021, the Board of Trustees of the Holy Spirit Catholic School Division were pleased to honour Mrs. Marianna Schmidt as the recipient of the prestigious “Share the Mission Award” for 2020/2021. Marianna has worked in the Holy Spirit Catholic School Division for nearly 40 years. She has served as an integral part of the
St. Joseph School community for the past 31, since 1990.
“This award is intended to honour those who stand as true models of what we are called to be in Catholic Education,” explains Vice Chair and Committee Representative, Frances Cote. “Marianna Schmidt has been a constant beacon of our Catholic values for the entire duration of her career. She is truly a deserving candidate.”
Linda Vogel, who represented many individuals in nominating Mrs. Schmidt, remarked, “We all build monuments of our teachers in our minds and hearts that can be everlasting influences. Marianna’s monument is profound and commendable because her teachings, relationships and involvement within the school and church communities are closely tied to God’s word - the true meaning and purpose of life itself!”
“I am so blessed to be able to serve the Lord by loving, growing and learning with my precious little students at St. Joseph School, my brothers and sisters at St. Ambrose Parish, my faithful colleagues at St. Joseph and Holy Spirit School Division, and my dear family who put up with, encourage and support me so much,” says Marianna. “We have been through a lot this past while and it is our faith that gives us strength and hope to continue to ‘spread the Good News.’”
