Catholic Education Week is May 23-27. World Catholic Education Day is May 26.

Catholic schools are an important and vibrant part of publicly funded education in Alberta. Each year, we celebrate the gift of Catholic Education in our province. The theme for this year’s celebration is: "Rebuild, Restore, Renew Together."

As always, Catholic Education in Alberta is well supported by our Catholic Bishops of Alberta and the Northwest Territories, who have prepared a letter and a number of videos to honour this week.

World Catholic Education Day

We also look forward to commemorating World Catholic Education Day on Thursday, May 26, 2022 where we will all wear blue and join our provincial partners in prayer and solidarity. Let us be grateful that we live in a place that encourages religious freedom and the ability to educate our children the Catholic faith! Don’t forget to use the hashtag #BlueforCatholicEd when sharing your posts on social media.

Holy Spirit Schools - Celebrating Through the Week

As for the amazing things going on in our Holy Spirit Catholic Schools, throughout the week we will be featuring how our schools demonstrate each.

Monday, May 23, 2022 - Mark 1: Christian Anthropology
As we begin our week together we focus on Mark 1, which is grounded in human dignity and is the foundation of all that we do in our schools.

Tuesday, May 24, 2022 - Mark 2: Catholic Worldview
Our focus today is on the word Rebuild, and its connection to Mark 2: Catholic Worldview. We see in the experiences of our four schools the reflection, service and sacramentality that imbue a Catholic worldview throughout our district. We rebuild the world around us from this foundation.

Schools Highlighted: Father Leonard Van Tighem School, St. Francis Junior High School, St. Mary School (Taber), and St. Patrick Fine Arts School.

Wednesday, May 25, 2022 - Mark 3: Faith-Infused Curriculum
Today, we are considering Mark 3, animated by a Faith-Infused Curriculum, by focusing on the word "Restore." In our schools, we advocate for a sacred perspective, infuse faith into our pedagogy and live our faith in our communities. We restore our faith with wisdom and action.
