The Niitsitapi First Nations, Métis and Inuit Facilitators are critical members of the learning teams in many of our schools. Their main duties are:
- Responding to Student Needs
- Works with school teams to provide transition support
- Monitors student attendance and identifies necessary supports
- Provides student mentorship
- Serves as an advocate for students
- Supporting teachers’ integration of Niitsitapi First Nations, Metis and Inuit context and content in all classroom learning
- Supporting Blackfoot Language
- Contributes their knowledge and expertise to provide school programming
- Facilitating Relationships
- Helps link families to community supports
- Facilitates opportunities for families to be involved with school
- Networks with community agencies, including First Nations, Metis and Inuit community
- Facilitates opportunities for Elders to work with staff, students, and families
